Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Pack meeting?

The monthly pack meeting brings together kids from every den, their leaders, and their families, to participate in a large-scale event that serves as a showcase for everything they have learned and done in their individual den meetings. The pack meeting gives them a larger experience beyond their own den and helps them to connect their individual activities to the entire Cub Scouting program.

What is a Den meeting?

A den is a group of six to eight kids, within the pack, that meets several times a month between pack meetings. The children in a den are usually all at the same grade level. The den structure allows them to build relationships with leaders and other kids. The den provides opportunities for activities that would be difficult with a large group. The den also provides leadership opportunities for the kids. Tiger Cub parents are required to attend den meetings and activities with their scout.

May parents attend meetings?

Yes!  Parents areallowed and encouraged to come to ALL meetings (siblings are welcome, too).  Younger dens, including Tigers and Lions, require a parent or guardian to be present with the child at all events.

Are there more activities than just meetings in the school?

Yes!  Some of the best things about Cub Scouting are the activities you get to do:

Cub Scout Camping– Our pack has two campouts per year (fall and spring).

Cub Scout Derbies– We have two derbies per year (Raingutter Regatta and Pinewood Derby).  Racing in a Cub Scout derby is great fun. You'll get to design your racing vehicle, work with a parent to build it, and see it perform on race day.

Outings and Field Trips - "Outing" is a big part of Scouting. Cub Scouts get outand about with many kinds of outdoor fun, such as field trips, hikes, nature and conservation.

Service Projects- Doing service projects together is one way that Cub Scouts keep their promise"to help other people."

How many fundraisers do Cub Scouts do per year?

One.  We have our annual Popcorn Sale each fall.  Scouts are encouraged to sell popcorn to family and friends, or to volunteer to sell outside various local retail stores with other members of the Pack (always with adult supervision).

Do I have to be a US citizen to be in Scouts?

No.  Citizenship is not required of youth or adult members.
