A known historical monument in the heart of Papillion, stands the Boy Scout Cabin--a symbol of what is good in our highly regarded community since 1920. Home to Troop 60, one of the oldest active Boy Scout troops in the US, the cabin serves not only as a storage facility for Scout gear but also as a base for our annual fundraising event at Papillion Days. During the holiday season, our cabin doubles as "Santa's Workshop".
Our cabin is in need of dire repair to keep it structurally safe for both our Scouts and our community. While City of Papillion officials are supportive of our efforts, we need YOUR help!
We currently have a plan for an outside company to lift up the structure and move it, replace footings, and secure the chimney that is pulling away. Much of the restoration of the cabin roof, exterior, and interior will be conducted by Troop 60 and volunteer labor after building materials are purchased.
As a non-profit organization, our funds are limited and primarily earmarked for Scouts and troop operation. We are conducting a public and private fundraising effort to make this project happen. In addition to the City of Papillion's Mayoral support, we are seeking donations and participation from past troop members, community partners, and local foundations. All donations and participation of the "in kind" variety will be recognized.
